Khorfakkan Station (KHPS) is a 144 MW gas-fired power plant located in the United Arab Emirates, operated by SEWA and commissioned in 1987. This facility utilizes both gas and oil for electricity generation. It ranks as the 44th largest gas plant in the United Arab Emirates, which has a total of 52 gas facilities with a combined capacity of 78,266 MW. Khorfakkan Station represents about 0.18% of the country's total gas capacity. The largest gas plant, جبل علي, has a capacity of 9,547 MW, making Khorfakkan Station approximately 1.5% of its size. Gas plays a vital role in the United Arab Emirates' energy strategy, providing a significant portion of the country's electricity. The UAE is focused on diversifying its energy sources while maximizing gas utilization. The plant is located approximately 130 km east of Dubai in the eastern region.

Gas power generation is a significant component of the global energy landscape, characterized by the use of natural gas to produce electricity. This process typically involves either gas turbines or combined cycle gas plants. In a gas turbine, compressed air is mixed with natural gas and ignited, producing high-temperature exhaust gases that spin a turbine connected to a generator. Combined cycle plants enhance efficiency by utilizing both gas and steam turbines. After the gas turbine generates electricity, the waste heat is used to produce steam, which drives a steam turbine, thereby maximizing energy extraction from the fuel.
