Saha Patana is a 122 MW gas-fired power plant located in Thailand, operated by Sahacogen Co Ltd since its commissioning in 1999. The plant generates electricity from natural gas, contributing to Thailand's gas generation capacity. It is the 73rd largest gas plant in Thailand. With 122 MW, it represents 0.16% of the country's total gas capacity of 75,424 MW. Thailand has 79 gas plants with a combined capacity of 75,424 MW. Compared to the country's largest gas plant, Ratchaburi Power Plant at 5,135 MW, this facility is about 1/42nd the size. Natural gas is a major component of Thailand's energy mix, providing approximately 65% of the country's electricity generation. The Saha Patana plant helps meet the growing energy demands in the region. The facility is located in the central part of Thailand, near Bangkok, approximately 30 km from the capital.

Gas power generation is a significant component of the global energy landscape, characterized by the use of natural gas to produce electricity. This process typically involves either gas turbines or combined cycle gas plants. In a gas turbine, compressed air is mixed with natural gas and ignited, producing high-temperature exhaust gases that spin a turbine connected to a generator. Combined cycle plants enhance efficiency by utilizing both gas and steam turbines. After the gas turbine generates electricity, the waste heat is used to produce steam, which drives a steam turbine, thereby maximizing energy extraction from the fuel.
