Glow Demin124 MW Gas

Gas

Glow Demin is a 124 MW gas-fired power plant located in Thailand. Operated by GLOW Group, it has been in operation since 1998. The facility generates electricity using natural gas as its primary fuel source. This plant ranks as the 71st largest gas facility in Thailand, contributing about 0.16% of the country's total gas capacity of 75,424 MW. Thailand has 79 gas plants with a combined capacity of 99,456 MW. Compared to the largest gas plant, Ratchaburi Power Plant at 5,135 MW, Glow Demin is approximately 2.4% the size. Natural gas is a significant energy source in Thailand, accounting for about 75% of the electricity generation. The country's energy strategy relies heavily on natural gas, particularly due to its domestic supply. Glow Demin is located in the eastern region, about 150 km from Bangkok.

Gas Power Generation: An Overview of Its Mechanisms, Benefits, and Future Prospects

Gas power generation is a significant component of the global energy landscape, characterized by the use of natural gas to produce electricity. This process typically involves either gas turbines or combined cycle gas plants. In a gas turbine, compressed air is mixed with natural gas and ignited, producing high-temperature exhaust gases that spin a turbine connected to a generator. Combined cycle plants enhance efficiency by utilizing both gas and steam turbines. After the gas turbine generates electricity, the waste heat is used to produce steam, which drives a steam turbine, thereby maximizing energy extraction from the fuel.
