Waste power generation, also known as waste-to-energy (WtE), is an innovative approach that transforms municipal solid waste into electricity and heat through various technological processes. As of now, there are approximately 1,068 waste power plants operating across 18 countries, boasting a total installed capacity of around 14.7 gigawatts (GW). The United States leads the way with 541 plants generating 9.8 GW, followed by the United Kingdom with 329 plants at 1.9 GW, and Germany with 66 plants producing 1.6 GW.
