Hodonín power plant is a 105 MW gas-fired facility located in the Czech Republic, operated by ČEZ Group. The plant contributes to the country's overall gas energy production. It ranks as the 6th largest gas plant in the Czech Republic. With 105 MW, it represents 4.86% of the country's total gas capacity of 2,159 MW. The Czech Republic has 8 gas plants with a combined capacity of 2,159 MW. Compared to the largest gas plant, Počerady at 840 MW, Hodonín is about one-eighth the size. Gas plays a significant role in the Czech Republic's energy landscape, providing around 6% of the total electricity generation. The facility is strategically located in South Moravia, approximately 200 km southeast of Prague.

Gas power generation is a significant component of the global energy landscape, characterized by the use of natural gas to produce electricity. This process typically involves either gas turbines or combined cycle gas plants. In a gas turbine, compressed air is mixed with natural gas and ignited, producing high-temperature exhaust gases that spin a turbine connected to a generator. Combined cycle plants enhance efficiency by utilizing both gas and steam turbines. After the gas turbine generates electricity, the waste heat is used to produce steam, which drives a steam turbine, thereby maximizing energy extraction from the fuel.
